Williams lathers well for me, but it doesn't give me a good shave. It dries out too soon and is not slick enough. I have to pour in -- a few drops is not enough -- some glycerin just to get it to the "good" level.
I get better results with Arko or VDH Luxury.
Luxury unscented works better then the other vdh's for guess its a YMMV thing
Funny, as low on the list as Williams soap is for me I have never had to use glycerin to get a lasting stable lather with it. That is once I finally figured out what it likes and how to lather it. It is fincky though to lather.

Lol i think the OP got more than he bargained for this thread went from a Nod to his successful use of Williams soap to an all out battle of all the ghetto soaps under 3 bucks. Enjoy your shaves everyone Im going to use Castle Forbes tomorrow :rofl2:
Yes, there is a world of difference between vintage Williams and the current version. The vintage Williams shave stick I have works like a charm.
There is the South African made Williams shave stick and that does work well also. If you are dying to try the SA made version you can get it here Williams Shave Stick [Williams shave Stick] - $12.00 : shaveabuck.com -, Providing quality shaving and grooming products such as Arko, Olive Oil, Lea Products, and double edge shaving. .
