My cat can tell me if a soap is tallow based or not!
She likes to lick the lids of the tallowy soaps, and ignores the ones that aren't!

A little off topic, but my cat likes all soaps.
But goes crazy over Pinaud clubman. Climbs my legs so he can rubb on my face.
That way he smells good too.
