A can of regular old Barbasol.
While at work the other day I noticed a small trial sized can of Barbasol. Curiosity killed the cat and I put a small dollop in my palm. It felt creamy and smooth. I said to myself "Self you are going to get a small can of this and give it a shot." It has been 20 years or more since I last used it.
I got out of my shower and put some on my face as directed by the wording on the can. Small circular motions and about 30 seconds later I was ready to go.
I had already stropped my razor before my shower so it was ready to go.
The first pass was like most of my first passes. Kinda rough as I had a real coarse beard. The second pass is were I do my evaluation.
It felt like most of the other budget minded commercial creams on the market. It wasn't the slickest, but it did have a nice cushion to it. The thing that I noticed more than anything was the fact I could have left this on my face till tomorrow and the lather wouldn't have dissipated.
The smell isn't bad, I'd bet CaD from PAA is one of their best sellers. So enough on that subject. The post shave is probably OK. I usually don't use an aftershave and I didn't with this either. Some of you younger people might think it leaves your face feeling a little dry. While us older guys like a product that will leave your skin nice and taught.
I only keep a couple of soaps in my house at time. One is menthol and the other is non-menthol. I don't think it will be used daily, but on a trip or something I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
Cheers,
John
