Keep an open mind and spend the .93 cents and try it. Certainly not the best, but I can several name brands it can beat. You figure in it's cost and ease of use and I think it's a great value. Like I said "It won't replace my two soaps, but I wouldn't hesitate to travel with it."

Thanked: 3222No doubt the canned foam, canned gels and brushless creams have come a long way and are doable for sure. I just like the process of using a brush and a puck of soap more.

Thanked: 3795I always used Edge gel for sensitive skin, but I think it was in 87 that I switched to a brush and soap. I've never regretted tossing the can.

My first few responses were in jest, as most here know,,, use what makes you happy; that is what this journey is about.
I discovered Barbasol over 25 years ago,, I strictly used Barbasol for 20 years, then five years ago found SRP & wetshaving,,, I won't be going back to Barbasol. I can pack a puck of shave soap a lot easier than a can of Barbasol.

All I'm really saying is don't poo-poo this aside. Some of these soaps and creams now cost almost a dollar to load your brush. Personally I can think of better ways to enjoy a dollar. A dram of fine Scotch comes to mind.
I will not give up my Stirling Tuscany or my Proraso Green either. I was just surprised at the strides the can has made since the late 1980's. The last can of it I bought came out as a dry foam and not creamy like it is now.
I didn't people to think that they should abandon their usual stuff. I wouldn't. But I think it might be a good idea for a new wet shaver to invest a dollar into a small can of this just in case they can't get their lather right.
Personally if I have to spend more than 15 seconds on a soap to get it to lather, then somethings wrong with the soap. The two brands that I use are great on that front. The Proraso does seem to dissipate faster that the Stirling though.
I also discard soap that I have to spend more than 15 or 20 seconds loading. Again if it takes that much product to get an acceptable lather I won't waste time on it. To many other better performing products out there that won't frustrate me.
I just don't waste time or money on what I consider inferior products.
Cheers,
John
