Arko creates a good lather for me that is thick and slick. You just have to practice with it to get your technique for face lathering with a shave stick down pat.

PCM,
Arko is a good soap. It can make big lather, too. The glide is good; the cushion is okay. For travel, the stick works well. Wet your face, run the tip of soap under hot water and then rub the stick all over the shaving area. About 15 second should do it. Then give your brush a few shakes and start making lather on your face. That should do it.
There are other stick soaps for travel: D.R. Harris, La Toja Manantiales, Lea and, I believe, Tabac, among others. I prefer the D.R. Harris sticks soap. Use the same method of lathering for all of these.
At the store today I found Van Der Hagen Scented Luxury Shave Soap for a very reasonable price. I read somewhere on the site this was suppossed to be a good brand of shaving soap. Can anyone confirm that?
So I bought it. Orange tube supposed to be Mango something. Zero scent, glide and cushion was mehe.
Anytime something good ends up in Walmart, I get nervous. Saw it on the shelf this week.
It will do in a pinch. Not going to make any tier for me. I would use Ivory Soap before I paid money for it again.
But my dad used Dial in the orange bar, so now you have my point of reference.
I could not get any good lather out of that soap or glide or cushion, I used it about 5 times, and got a really good lather twice after REALLY loading the heck out of it, but the cushion was horrible, with a spotty glide so use it at your own risk my friend.
I will be very careful and mindful. But since I bought it, I have to try it or the wife unit will give me 10 kinds of hell. Every time I go to the store I buy different soaps to try out and she thinks I'm just wasting money. Women - can't live with them, can't live without them. But I love her still even after 40 years....
Haven't seen these mentioned yet, but Pannacrema Nuavia Blu and Rossa are top tier soaps for me. I also feel that Floris #89 CREAM (not soap) is a top tier cream.
My I have a spare tin of klar soap a Great soap if pay fot the shipping I will send it to you and you can have it
