The Obie Memorial First Tier Soaps and Creams Thread.

My last two shaves have been with Musgo Shave Cream - the Classic Scent and the Lavender.

Both are fantastic performers, really nice creams, great quality, thirsty, but fantastic in my opinion.

I'm sold on the Musgo Classic Shave Cream, really unlike anything I've smelled before, one of those type of soap/creams that got all the foundations covered, and that scent - wow!

Need to try the lavender again, great performance, just with Castle Forbes Lavender to compare it to, needs a few more tries.

The tubes are $20 Cdn each, can't go wrong, if you haven't tried Musgo, you'll be impressed, and you get to try something new.

On the contrary, I love British creams and soaps. Truefitt & Hill, Taylor of Old Bond Street, D.R. Harris, and so on, I have used them off and on for years. Yes, British creams are great.

Years ago, I tried Musgo Real cream and it fried my skin.

Next payday I'm ordering the Castle Forbes as I stated before.

Luckily I have never had any irritation from any soaps or creams. I use few artisan products, which tend to be more strongly scented, so that may be part of the reason.

Hirlau, Castle Forbes is a great performing cream. The Lime scented version smells similar to key lime pie, or maybe Skittles.

I definitely get the skittles connection with the Limes. Haven't used it in a while though. I mostly owned (and used) the Lavender from this very respectable range.

I think it's the lanolin in that. I had a similar reaction. My skin can't take lanolin, or shea butter or alcohol. Sensitive is my middle name. :(

Interesting point about lanolin. In my case, I don't think it's that. Mitchell's Wool Fat is loaded with lanolin and I have no problem with it. There has to be another ingredient, or two, all these irritating soaps and creams share. I can't put a finger on it.

Gentlemen,

After several tries with Meisner Tremonia Pots of Milk, the entire line of this soap drops back into the Third Tier. Pots of Milk is the only one in this collection I can use, and even that fails to impress me all that much. I'll try to finish the puck and then Meisner Tremonia is retired permanently.
