I agree, Phrank. I thought LPL a good Tier 2 soap until I learned to load more soap. I guess I was a Tier 2 loader and it was a Tier 1 soap all along. The primary difference that I find between MdC and LPL is I find MdC drying, whereas LPL isn't. That doesn't matter much to me, as I always use a balm.

Interesting, I'm assuming you mean drying of the skin...I am going to have to pay attention next time I use the MdC.

Now you've given me an idea - think the next couple of shaves are going to be LPL and MdC comparison. Not which is better, but understanding how they are different. Mind you, both are French, and exquisitely made. So the MdC Fougere and the LPL Cologne / Fougere will be my next couple of shaves, then move on to MdC Regular and the LPL Traditional...this will be fun and very enjoyable...

Also Richard, believe it was one of your SOTD's that popped my eyes when I saw that LPL had a Cologne / Fougere....that was a must have BOOM!! :whipped:

I have been microwaving a small amount of water less than a minute. small rocks glass.
Soak brush. Water temp will dry out my soap with a quickness.
Hotter water and more water seem to balance the hard to load soaps. Heat dries it out , increase amount 2-3cc of water. fixes that .
Hotter water than tap softens harder soaps and makes them bloom easier.
Lastly the increased water temp increases the aromatics.

Right you are about Le Pere Lucien soap's quality. This is good stuff. After using it for several years, couple months ago it began giving my skin a wee bit of a burn. This was odd. It could have been the soap or something else, I don't know. So I parked the soap for a while. Time to give it another try next week and see what happens.

This has happened to me with a number of quality soaps and creams — the torching of my skin — and I have had to retire them. Unfortunately my Hollywood face is plagued with an ultra sensitive skin and a tough beard — Lynn calls my beard "tree trunks."

Especially the gray ones, eh my friend? Lol
