I have considered this product for a while, but what has stopped me from ordering it is the high price. Ordinarily, if I really want something, if it really excites me, I will order it regardless of price. In the case of this product, however, I am still not excited enough about it to spend the money. That might change, of course.
So first shave with the LPL Cologne ~ Fougere was delightful - much different than the MdC Fougere, which I was pleased about.
Only first shave, but the the scent leapt out right away, a sharper smell that you'd associate with an aftershave splash, and slightly sharper than the MdC's scent. Great soap, has a texture more like a croap though, not the harder soap of the Patchouli, the Traditional or the Rose, so loads fairly easily and would be easy to overload, same as the MdC, not a lot goes an awful long way - easily in the Tier 1 with all the other LPL.
Enjoy Gentleman...:)
This is easily one of the greatest, most reliable threads on the site, but I realized tonight that the "third tier" (which isn't mentioned in the preamble) is quite controversial! There are certainly some much beloved soaps in the third tier with some serious fans. Defend your soap, folks!! :)
More important, I am not excited enough about the soap to order it. Other soaps and creams have been pricey, but I have ordered them because something about them has excited me. Not so with this soap — yet. What makes me feel this way? Gut feeling, really, and gut feeling usually works for me, especially since my ultra sensitive skin makes me extra cautious about shave soaps and creams. That could change, of course. So it is more than just the money holding me back.
I think folks have decided there is a gold mine in shaving soaps and creams. There is this explosion of high end "premium" soaps.
For most of us a decision must be made on whether to risk wasting big bucks on every new soap that comes out which seems to be more frequently.
Yes, I agree..
I find it amazing that such a niche market can support so many artisan soapmakers. And, every review states that the new arrival "explodes with lather" without even necessitating the use of a brush! I only wish that my trials of purportedly "premium" shave soaps had such fantastic results!
