I haven’t used my Tebac in months.....I think it up to bat..next shave.
Love Tabac. Recently my most used soap. Love the scent, ease of lather, and performance. One of the greats. TBH my Oleo soaps don’t even have a spot in the bathroom. I didn’t find the performance to be that great (original formula) although I really like the scents. How is that for YMMV?
I am a one soap kind of guy, and prefer the triple milled variety.
I bought a soap refill of DR Harris Windsor in June of last year. I shave daily and still have enough for another month. It can be found for less than 20$ and it produces a wonderful lather.
This one wins the prize for " best bang for your buck" in my books.

D.R. Harris Windsor...
Awesome soap
Awesome scent
Pete <:-}
I love the smell of Windsor, reminds me of the good ol' days of the Empire.
I still haven’t tried the Windsor, but I like DR Harris soaps. The lavender is subtle but wonderful. I recently received the Marlborough in a trade and I love it.
recently got out a stick of Palmolive that i had been saving. I grated it in a bowl this time instead of using it as a stick. I am continually amazed at this stuff. It's like it can hardly wait to start lathering when you are loading a brush. i have tried about a dozen varieties of soap (even MDC) and i still haven't found any that i like better. Too bad it's hard to find.
Yes, the Palmolive shave stick is very nice. Looks like it is going to get harder to get in the future because they are once again talking about it being not for sale in the UK. The Palmolive shave cream in the green tube used to good also many years ago but I have not tried the current version. Might be worth a go.

I used Proraso Red today. I don't typically use Proraso. I keep it around because I love the scent. But after today's shave, wow. I've settled on B&M being my go to soap because I don't think anything else measures up to it. That conclusion is again confirmed. After today's shave my face just feels abused. While I was using it I could tell it wasn't performing as well as what I'm used to. I could feel the blade gripping as it passed. Now a few hours later my face has that "I'm glad I'm not shaving tomorrow" feel.
Interesting, all the tub Proraso croaps have been fair middle of the road users for me, with the "single edge" creams being slightly better than the tubs.
Gentlemen,,
Recently I came across Proraso with Green Tea and Oatmeal and was surprised at how good it is, especially for those of us with sensitive skin. I did not care for the original Proraso, which has a heavy dose of eucalyptus that gives me a headache. The newer version with Green tea and Oatmeal is a joy to use. The product is made for sensitive skin, according to Proraso. Yes, I'll go for that. The stuff is really sweet on my skin. If you've never tried this version of Proraso, I suggest giving it a try.

I'm with you Obie on that one 100 per cent, was one that started it all for me and is one of my favourites, until one day you find you ran out!!! The Outrage!!!

+++1 to Obie!!
Absolutely love the Proraso White.
Pete <:-}
I've never tried Proraso White and am looking forward to giving it a try. I didn't care much for Proraso Red and felt it was a mediocre performer, at best, and therefore didn't use their products for years. However, I found that Proraso Single Blade creams are outstanding and are on the top of my list for best performing creams. Thanks for the review of Proraso White, Obie.
If you have a Marshall's or T.J.Max near you, they have sporadically had tubs and tubes of Proraso for $4.99 lately.

I need a new soap puck.....What’s good now..Obie ?
Ah, my friend, I have not tried anything new recently. For the most part, I use Martin de Candre, Castle Forbes and OneBlade lavender. The OneBlade cream, in a way, reminds of of Castle forbes lavender. It's good stuff.
I've always been fond of sandalwood, and recently I discovered a tub of it in my stash from Cyril Salter. Good stuff. Another one you won't go wrong with is a French soap that has been around for a while and it is inexpensive: Provence Sante Vertaine. This one is named after the French poet Paul Verlaine, which automatically makes it okay by me.
Provence Sante Verlaine has a delightful floral scent, like drifting away with the fragrance of a garden in the south of France. It lathers well, with good cushion and glide, and it costs only $10. I've used this soap for years, from time to time, and never tire of it.
As for what's out that's new, I have no idea. The hundreds of artisans soaps on the market makes choosing any one a wee bit difficult. The one artisan soap I have consistently tried is Wholly Kaw. I also love Wickham 1912 Russian Leather. That's about it.
Finally, spending most of my funds on razors leaves me flat broke for soaps and creams.
I have been noticing a few of your acquisitions, seems you've been reaching for the str8 a bit more, as of lately. :tu
Yes, Mike, I have. For a while the arthritis in my hands and shoulders got the best of me and I had to rely on the safety razors. The trouble with safety razors is that I find them uninteresting, despite some of the high prices charged for the modern stainless steel shavers.
I still have a couple GEM single edge razors, the Pushbutton GEM and the 1912 Ever-Ready. The only double edge I have is the rare Star, from the 1930s, I believe, and I bought it NOS from a friend. It's a good and mild shaver.
The only safety razor I really like is the OneBlade, and I have several models. Sometimes I use the OneBlade Core for the final straight razor cleanup, as I have lost some of the dexterity in my left hands and shoulders and cannot maneuver the blade as well as I used to some years ago.
The straights, as I noted, have left me broke for products. The three products that I consistently use are Martin de Candre, Castle Forbes and OneBlade. Actually I have a big stash of the OneBlade shave cream. The cream has an earthy lavender fragrance and performs remarkably well. Of course, you can never go wrong with Castle Forbes and Martin de Candre.
The CBL "Roasted Oatmeal Stout Tonsorial" that Victor spoke of has got my hackles raised. It has gotten rave reviews for performance and scent, and is $10.00. Anybody else tried this soap?
Pete <:-}
Czech & Speake Oxford and Cambridge proving to be a real winner here thanks to a sale at Maggard's recently.
With or without sale, Czech & Speake is pure luxury, from robust fragrance to exceptional performance. I have enjoyed this soap for a number of years, although I couldn’t see spending a fortune on the fancy dish and store mine in a simple wooden bowl.

Obie I have enough MdC to last me 20 years and I still try to use the other suggested soaps. At times I feel that I am in the 7th level of hell, condemned to never run out of soap!:rofl2:

Yes, some things are meant to be a part of us like a certain suite, shirt and tie. I'll be happy marching into the next century with my Martin de Candre, Simpson Tulip 3 super and custom Max Sprecher 8/8 French point in the yellow Awabi scales.
I find myself turning to a few favourite soaps as well: MdC original, PannaCrema, TOBS and Cyril Salter Sandalwood and Baume.be. There are quite a few tubs of other soaps around, but they get used only when I think I want to try something different.
I was in Iceland in March and picked up a tube of the European Noxzema shave cream. Finally tried it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to use (no brush lathering) and the glide and post shave face feel. It wasn’t;t very expensive and is well worth having in my travel kit.
Now that is interesting since the Noxzema shave cream that used to be sold in North America years ago was meant to used with a brush. IIR the cream had a pinkish tinge to it and smelt a bit like Noxzema cold cream. I liked it very much and wish it was still available.

Speick shaving cream . . .
Gentlemen, I had known of this unpretentious German shaving cream, but never tried it. I know the cream has its fans, and now you can count me in as one. I found a tube of it in my stash, but I have no idea when I bought it.
The cream's fragrance is lavender with a dose of spice. It reminds me of the incense burned in the Catholic church of my youth in Tehran. The cream creates luxurious lather, with impressive glide and cushion. The price is right, too, I might add. Speick definitely deserve the Second Tier rating.

Their shave stick and AS are also excellent.

I've zeroed in on my own favorites...MdC Fougere, Castle Forbes Cedarwood and Sandalwood, Proraso green and Arko. With them I get the easiest and fastest, best lather and the most enjoyable scents. I have a few others that I occasionally try, but those four I keep in a pretty regular rotation.
Updated List . . .
From time to time I update my list. Obviously I cannot keep up with all the soaps and creams coming out, especially from artisans, but I do the best I can.
I have moved to the First Tier Provence Sante and Institute Karite, two unpretentious shave soaps packed with shea butter. These are inexpensive soaps, especially Provence Sante, that are just as good as the great ones already in the First Tier.
Provence Sante Verlaine has been an especially favorite of mine for years. That it is named after the French poet Paul Verlaine does not hurt. I like the green tea version, too. As for Institute Karite, who can argue with 25% shave butter?
I removed I Coloniali, the Italian soap, from the list, because it is no longer made. Xpec has dropped to the Second Tier. The artisan made Shave Revolution is no longer made, so it went away. I have a small tube Wilkinson Sword on the way from English. We'll see where it ends up.
Interesting about Institut Karite. I got the cream in a tube some time ago and did not particularly enjoy it. I think I’ll find it and try again.
I also have the after shave balm in a tube, which feels quite enriching on my skin in the winter when my skin tends to feel dry.
