Thin, dissipating lather? Try adding water!

I was discussing with member Moonshae some problems we were having with Geo.T soaps in another thread. He was getting a thin lather that disappeared quickly with rose. I was having decent results with rose, but not great. Then I bought some lime and, sure enough, I had a thin lather that vanished almost instantly. I threw the soap in the shower, annoyed.

But, I'm still on vacation and had time to try again. My results today were that, when I was getting that same thin, weak layer with the lime, I added more water. Now, it's counter-intuitive to me that if your soap is thin and runny, that adding more water would help. Sure enough, that Trumper lime I almost threw in the trash gave me a thick, cushiony lather and an awesome shave. I was shocked.

This wet shaving thing is way more complicated than I would have imagined.

My personal opinion is to junk Trumper. My personal opinion is that it's is garbage. My favorite is Barrister and Mann. The lather stands up in my mug until it dries out two days later. YMMV.

I was with you yesterday and, in fact, had an epic shave with Barrister and Mann Vetyver Santal this week. But, I really did have an incredible Trumper shave tonight. I was super surprised.

Well compare them over time and report back. I didn't want to accept B&M as my top shaving soap because I felt I was supposed to o like some of the more accepted favorites. But shave after shave it outperforms everything else. YMMV

I like my Trumpers soaps, never had any real probs getting a good lather.
Tonight I tried something different. Using Trumper Violet, I added two drops
of glycerine and voila !!.... super-lather just incredible.
