Thanked: 72One Economic Advantage of Soaps Over Creams
This is, perhaps, overly obvious to warrant a post, but I just had a subpar shave with a cream and thought I'd share.
When you are addicted to trying new products and have soap acquisition disorder(SAD) like I do, you're gonna end up with some clunkers. I know I've picked up some real under-performers over the years. But, if I'm not happy with a soap, it goes straight to the shower. And I've had some fantastic showers with some pretty lame shaving soaps.
With a cream, you don't have the opportunity of giving it a second life and recouping a least some of your investment. You're just left with a tub of worthless goo.D-rings, not handles

May I ask what cream it was?
There's always a chance with creams to add them to another soap or cream and stretch them outLook sharp and smell nice for the ladies.~~~Benz

I think you could get away with using cream in the shower. Better than wasting. Or donate for giveaway.

I have only used one cream and it worked well so I can't speak from experience but I would think a dab or two on a washcloth would work.
I shave before I shower and and rub left over lather on before all the time.

I have 2 shaving soaps. One is from SRD sweet patchouli which I do like and one from Walmart that works OK but doesn't smell very good. I have 2 creams one from SRD Castle Forbes Lavender and one from the ART Of Shaving sandelwood. I do like the castle forbes best. They all do the job as long as you take the time to build the lather. The cheap one from Walmart (and I do mean cheap) shaves quite well but takes longer to build the lather and not much Oder to it good or bad. I look at different shaving products when the wife and I go shopping but find very few. I do wish there were more to choose from out in the market place other than having to order it from specialty sites. I would defiantly try more it they were readily available.

AOS Sandalwood! Performance wise maybe not THE best out there, but it smelled A M A Z I N G imo
Can't seem to find it anywhere over here in Europe, purely for it's scent
I've actually been using D R Harris Lavender for years, I once bought a couple of tubs and haven't used anything else ever since, good stuff
I got a couple of Trumpers creams as a gift years ago, also good stuff.
Aside from those I've used Cella crema sapone and Klar rasierseifen, all excellent stuff.
No shower duty soaps or creams for me
Soaps are a little slicker and I get somewhat closer shaves, creams give me a little more cushion / skin protection.Last edited by TristanLudlow; 10-16-2017 at 04:58 PM.

Use undesired cremes as a pre-shave treatment. Rub it on your face before applying a hot wash cloth. It works great, and boosts your lather.

Well, you could whip it up like whipped cream and serve it to some folks you don't like. They'll never return.
