Using soap samples???

Let me start off by saying that I feel like I'm missing something extremely obvious here...

However, I have never figured out how to get a good use out of the "sample sized" soaps that a lot of manufacturers give away with a large order or send as samples. I've got about a gallon sized bag (not an exaggeration) of sample tins and jars of soap ranging from <1" diameter to 2" diameter that I've never been able to use.
My issue here is that without painstaking concentration and careful manipulation of my brush, I can't load my brush up with soap to lather correctly because the containers are just too small. In most cases the brush is larger than the container of soap.

So my question is - how do the rest of you use these sample containers? I'd love to put some of the sample's I've been sent to use and try out new soaps that may very well be great but not if I have to spend ten minutes loading my brush. Thoughts?

Why not use the old timey scuttles? They were made for similar sized product.

I just received samples from Wholly Kaw and was wondering the same thing... Scoop some out and put in a mug/scuttle to lather up is the best I could come up with.

Yup, just put a bit in a mug, bowl or old timey scuttle and load up your brush. I have a container where I put all my odds and sods in of the samples that did not make the cut. I use that as I would a whole container of the same soap. Oddly I did not like the samples but mashed together they don't do to badly at all.

When I used a sample of soap, I would just cut off a sliver of it, press it on the bottom of a cup/bowl and then go from there.
Never used a scuttle or full sized puck though so I didn't know the difference.

This has been talked about a few times before, not sure where the threads are, but I''ll try to find them.

You take a razor blade & cut thin slices off the sample , then place in some hot water in your bowl. They will melt & lather well.

Do it like Pauli here does his garlic.

Samples are samples not meant to be everyday use. Spend the extra 10 minute to try them or toss them...............
