Sandalwood soap
The wife bought some Sandalwood soap at the feamarket the other day and i find i love the sent. Sandalwood and Vanilla. I can smell the Vanilla but the Sandalwood is great. Id love to find a quality shave soap of Sandalwood. I just tried the cedarwood and sandalwood from CF again, but its just too much Cedar.
So, anyone have a option for me to check out? I like a scent to slap me in the face sense my smeller dont work so well. And cusion and slickness is a must, so im wanting something in the first tier as Obie calls them.
So what say you? It's just Sharpening, right?

Hey Gerry,
I've never tried this Cyril Salter soap but it comes very highly recommended by Max.
Might be worth a try, I know it is on my watch list on eBay.

Thanked: 603I have... I've owned and used it since 2007, and my once-yearly utilization speaks for my wish that it smelled better, and my disappointment that it doesn't.
Save your money.
(ditto for their French Vetiver)
What sandalwood soap/cream DO I use? The best, evah: QED Sandalwood shaving soap (sadly, it's no longer in production); and when I use it, I finish my shave with Floris Sandalwood EDT (also, sadly, no longer in production). You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Vintage AOS sandalwood soap is still available, and it's my favorite sandalwood scent. The performance is top notch, as it's tallow and made by Valobra, who also make Czech & Speake and are of the same quality. AOS sandalwood cream also has a fantastic scent.

AOS Sandalwood came in the mail yesterday. Used it today. Not as strong of a scent i was hoping for. It is a nice scent, just not a pure sandalwood scent. Guessing.
Performance wise it was right on the money. I had lather in seconds. It help a good amount of water without breaking down. If I had to find a fault with it Id say it Could have been a little better in slickness, but that is really being picky as it was slick. The after the shave skin feel was very nice and not pinched at all. Skin felt conditioned and moisturized.
Another BBS shave today. That two in a row. I must be living right or something.
Now if i could stop faceterbating!
A solid quality cream is my opinion.
Was thinking that maybe i could add some oils to it to get more scent???Last edited by Gasman; 08-01-2018 at 10:42 PM.

Thanked: 292I recently learned about the "Try That Soap" web site that allows you to search for soaps based on scent preferences. Of course, the site does not list all soaps (WSP soaps are not included, for example). For soaps including sandalwood in the blend, see: https://trythatsoap.com/scent/29/
Most of the soaps will be a mixture of sandalwood and one or more other scents, but there are some whose scent is basically pure sandalwood. Captains Choice Sandalwood, Proraso Red, DR Harris Sandalwood, Stirling Sandalwood, WSP Sandalwood and others are basically a pure sandalwood scent. Please be aware that there are a variety of species that have a sandalwood type scent, so there will be variations in sandalwood scents depending upon the source of the sandalwood and the scent strength, even if that is the only scent note included.
