Gentlemen,
I put Wholly Kaw on the top of the heap of U.S. made artisan soaps. I have only tried two scents: one I didn’t like, and the other, the Fougere, I like. I especially like the creamy characteristic of Wholly Kaw. Good stuff.
I used Wholly Kaw for todays shave. No time for a SOTD pic. But my face feels smooth the soft. The wife thinks its great stuff to make my rough skin feel kissable soft.
The Fougere from WK is absolutely awesome. I will definitely be buying more.
Well my samples just arrived. I couldn’t wait and started to smell them. 5 I definitely like, 2 the jury is still deciding 😂, and 1 is a hard pass based off of scent and that’s Spice Vitae. Project Leather and Man from Mayfair are my maybes. Leather does smell like leather, and Mayfair reminds me of an earthy scent. Fougere Bouquet is my favorite of the 5. King of Oud and King of Bourbon are my next in line. The Oud reminds me of when I was still in the military and my deployments overseas. Monaco Royal and Jamestown Gentlemen I just find appealing. Will try them soon on my head, mama had requested I don’t shave while I am on my vacation so it will be a few weeks before my face enjoys them.
Enjoy the time off. And the soaps.
I have discovered that some of the WK scents are quite different when lathered from what you get out of the jar. Cuero Oscuro, is quite pungent if you just sniff the soap in its container, but quite warm and leathery on the face.
So I tried my King of Bourbon tonight to shave my head. It was a little difficult to load the brush in the tiny jar, I had to scrunch up the tips of the brush together to get it to work. The scent is not as strong as it is in the jar. I like how it makes my skin feel. Overall I am happy. Do you guys put the soap in a mug/jar to load the brush or do try what I did when using these sample jars? If you put it in a jar do you let it in the open air or do you seal it somehow?
I have a special little bowl that Tom sent me. Some japanese thing. Some will post a pic of one. Its course in to bowl so i smash a small amount in the bottom and work my brush that way.
You can but shaving bowls or use a coffee mug. Smash a bit of soap in the bottom and go to work with a damp brush. Crops and creams work well out of those tiny containers because you just need to get a little on the brush. But with soap... I have used a cat food bowl before too. A little wide and short. Worked well but the wife wanted it back for the damn cats. I see where i stood in the pecking order. So i bought a bowl. And a scuttle and a ........
I buy small bowls with lids to keep my soaps in. It gives me room to load the brush and typically leaves me with the ability to share some. Small sample I often bowl lather.
I’ve had some luck finding smaller bowls with textured interiors at thrift stores. Haven’t paid more than a few dollars for bowls that turned out to be just fine for working a lather.
