Thread: I really really want to like this, but.....

So I was checking out Obie’s post about tier soaps, after much deliberation I decided to grab myself some Geo. F. Trumper shaving soap with lime, and the face feed to go with it.
I really really want to like this soap, I love the smell but I hate the way this soap acts when applied, I’ve tried different brushes (badger and silver tip and horse hair). Every time I apply a lather I feel like it’s a race to shave. After application it seems to just disappear after a few minutes, I decided to time it to see how long it took for the lather to fade after 1 minute it had faded significantly and after 3 minutes it had practically disappeared altogether, it just doesn’t behave like any other soaps I’ve ever used and this just doesn’t seem normal. It seems such a highly rated soap and I just can’t see its worth myself.

I’ve taken a couple of photos a few minutes apart. (Sorry that you have to look at my ugly mug!).

Has anyone any experience of this?
