Proraso green testimony

Soooo I've been wet shaving for about a year now, mostly DE. I have a SR but need to get it honed anddddd I'm a tight wad. Last week i noticed my puck of williams shave soap was wearing thin(again, tight wad). So I research and look for deals and bought some Proraso green online. It arrived today and I figured I would give it a go. HOLY CRAPPP, I didn't realize how much I disliked williams until about 30 minutes ago. I mean sure it works, but Proraso seriously is no joke. Building lather easier and thicker with a solid scent. I mean I could get BBS off of williams but Proraso made it wayyyy easier. Leaving my skin softer and allowing my DE to slide smoothly across my face. Looks like I might have to loosen my wad a little and move to the SR to see how good it actually gets.

I have never tried Williams soap but I used (and use) Proraso green since the day I began shaving myself. You know, here in Italy it is the most popular and "easy to find" soap and you can find it in every shop of the whole country.
Proraso is a good soap but not a very good one. It is easy to use, can make a good and stable lather, good sensation on the skin, until you find out there are better creams and soaps other than that.
The price is very competitive (in Italy it is about 2 euros for the green bowl) and it certainly is among the best for that price range. A good soap but not that good, at least in my opinion.

Cella and Valobra are two very good examples of Italian creams. I would also add to the list Vitos cream and soap. The very best of them all was P.160 but it is not in production anymore.
There also are many other ones, in my opinion, although I guess most of the fellow Perugians use Proraso, like most of Italians

Proraso is what I base all of my soaps off of: If a soap is equal to or better I keep it, not equal to: trash it. In all honesty though, it is a soap that works well in all types of water, hard-soft, consistent with every tub/batch, and is quite affordable. Keep at it my friend, you learned a valuable lesson.

Yea, using any good soap after having used Williams should be an eye opener. I enjoy using Proraso Green and Red too. You don't have to go up the price scale too high to get a much better shave soap and I am thinking Arko in this case. A good soap goes a long way to making an shave enjoyable experience.

Proraso is a good soap for sure but, in my opinion, not the very best. We should also consider the differences among "tube", "bowl" and "bag", all of them apparently being the same product, but they are not.
I used all the three of them and, in my opinion, the best Proraso is the one sold in plastic bowl. It is a good soap for sure - easy to mount, good sensation on the skin, very high quality if compared to price - but it is not my favorite one.
I think in Italy there are better shaving soaps than Proraso - although they are more expensive - including Cella, Valobra and Vitos. A 150ml Cella bowl, in Italy, has a quite variable price, around 5 euros or so, sometimes even less.
For the price you pay a 150ml Proraso bowl - in Italy, about 2 euros - I certainly say it is an excellent soap, but in case I have to consider performance and efficiency, this is not the best.
To clear any doubt, in my shave den I have always had - and still have - a bowl of green Proraso and I am using it since the first time I shaved in my life. Not a bad soap - it is always reliable and "safe" - but not the best.

I've been using the Green Proraso in both tube and tub for years. A great soap. But IMHO the best they ever made was the Proraso in the solid red tube. I believe it had wheat germ in it. That was the best shaving cream I've ever used. I still have one and a half tubes left which I use sparingly.
