These are great shaving soap
i love mine
The only problem i have is i want
to try them all
Well, I got my order on Tuesday (Trade Winds and Tuscan Memories). I have to admit that my first use (Trade Winds) wasn't positive at all. My face burned all day. Sue, before reacting to that comment let me qualify it. First I'm a newbie, so I am learning (6 total shave) the fine art of shaving with the straight. The scent was nice. But it seemed to have a very strong presence of menthol (or is that the mint?). I learned something shaving this morning. I lessened my angle of attack of the blade, and I used my CS-Rose soap. In doing these two things I changed two variables in the problem. The lesser angle allowed the razor to slice through whiskers rather than tugging them out. I have never had any facial issues with the CS soaps. Tomorrow I will try the Tuscan Memories and see how that works. But I must say the scents are very nice. I am also looking with interest at the Green Irish Tweed.
You bought two of my favorite scents. I think Trade Winds has peppermint. Tuscan Memories is also great. You may just need to get used to the essential oils. I have never had any reaction to either of these and use each at least once a week.
THis thread caused me to buy four more soaps from Mama Bear last night. I didn't really need them, but they sounded too good to pass up. Not like they go bad or anything and varietyis one of the things I love best about this hobby. I am looking forward to trying these in a few days when they get here.
Quite right you are! My absolutely favorite shaving scent yet! I loved it so much it seemed such a waste to risk washing any of that scent away with aftershave (I just use witch hazel and aloe juice), so after the hazel and aloe I took the leftover lather and washed my face with it! Excellent work here Sue.
Sue's soaps rock! I just got another shipment of Sue's soaps...
(Grow beard, grow!)
:p
Sue, I made a modification in my lather prep. I used the same technique as I use with my CS soaps. That is to thoroughly soak the brush in hot water then flick the brush once or twice. Then I vigorously lather up the brush in the soap and go directly to my face. Since your soap consitency is different than those of CS I go too much soap on the brush and it was more like a thin paste than a lather. That's a lot better than too thin by a far stretch. (Still more to learn in getting the lather right). I also changed the attack agngle of the blade to cut rather than tug. No razor burn this time, and the closest shave to date! Well, a total of 7 shaves with the straight.
Wow the soaps arrived yesterday. I shaved with the "night train" this AM what a great scent and boy did it lather up. The three scents are a hit. Thank you. My son claimed America and Polo. I loved all three so I didn't mind which two he claimed. You have a real talent for this keep up the great work. I now have 7 soaps in the house. All great really hard to pick a favorite. I guess I will have to keep buying till I find one....:roflmao
Actually my wife already thinks I am nuts....
Just got my latest order of four new soaps and Mama Bear threw in a Pipe Tobacco soap sample. Never considered t his as I am not a pipe smoker, but it sure smells good. I am going to try it tomorrow or Saturday. I tried the Green Irish Tweed today and it rocks. I just need to decide what I want to try tomorrow, the Pipe Tobacco or the Lime Ice. Too many choices, not enough shaves.

Lime Ice Glycerin Shave Soap
Cedarwood and Lemon Glycerin Shave Soap
Ylang Ylang Glycerin Shave Soap
Just ordered these the other day ....
can't wait to try them .....
Got my order today and tried the Ylang Ylang.
Really THICK lather and good light scent. Can't wait to try the rest.
Ordering was fast and easy and shipped quick as well.
Received my order in the mail today - a Mamabear Mysore Sandalwood SS. All I can is WOW. The smell, the lather (lots of it) made my shave today so much more enjoyable. Thanks Mamabear.
Did my first shave with a MamaBear soap today and I think I'm gonna have to revise my "favorite soap" list!
I tried the Sensual fragrance and it was awesome! With just few swirls on the brush it made copious amounts of lather and in fact it would be very easy to get too much soap on the brush. The scent wasn't overpowering but it did last a long time...and merged very nicely with my sandalwood skin food post shave.
Two :tu:tu thumbs up!!!
