    Default Itchy Soap

    Hi...

I got some weeks ago BayRum ClassicShaving Soap

Shaving Soaps, Creams, Lotions & Toiletries

I dont know if all the scents from this brand will work the same way, but after one minute that I apply the leather to my face, I feel itchy all over my face (under the leather)

I dont have this using tabac or any other soap or cream...

    Any comment will be appreciated

Perhaps you have sensitive skin? I have used their soaps (Rose, Lavender and Violet) for quite some time now with no problems. Do you use any other of their soaps with the same issue?

Maybe you're alergic to some of the ingedients of that particular soap?

Have you ever used a Bay Rum soap or aftershave before? You may be having a reaction specifically to the Bay Rum essential oils in the soap, just a thought.

Because "craft" producers of soap seem to use more generous amounts of essential oils than mass producers, I've seen more people who have had reactions to small-batch soaps. That said, I've also seen more people fanatically devoted to a small-batch soap that works for them, than for any mass-produced soap (except maybe Tabac or Mitchell's Woolfat fanatics). Small-batch soaps and creams like QED or Mama Bear often have much richer scents than mass-produced, because of their generous essential oils.

I have really sensitive skin, but have been fortunate enough to not have any reactions from the soaps or creams I've tried. But I have sometimes really chafed my face with shaving brushes that have a firm loft, when using an aggressive swirling motion rather than a painting motion. Those brushes really *do* exfoliate.

There is an issue with classics soaps. I tried their Bay Rum premium and found it burnt so bad I could not use it and I do not have sensitive skin. I've used several of their regular soaps and had minor burning. The unsented is fine though.

I had the same experience just 3 days ago with the bay rum soap from classic shaving. Lathered up and after about 30 sec felt like I had just put liquid magma on my face. Thank goodness for cold water.

I also had a bad reaction to Bay Rum soap but it was with ogallala soap. Great
soap but my skin just did not like that brand. I switched to Col. conk bay rum and
have had no bad reaction at all. Now I keep a tube of hydrocortisone cream handy
for when I run into something else my skin don't like.

Happened to me too, but it was with Sienna from C&E. Probable that your face just don't like one of the ingredients. That's life.
