soap for your teeth

Hello

I have been doing some reading about using soap for brushing your teeth to stay away from flouride, sodium laurate and glycerin

stuff like Tooth Soap or similar products.

Has anyone ever used soap for your teeth...

Oh yes, I've been using my own home made tooth paste for about 7 years now.

I had a post prior to the great server crash of early 2008 that detailed it very well.

Essentially I use Dr. Bronners liquid peppermint soap as a base mixed with a bit of water and baking soda to form a thick paste. I keep the mixture in an airtight glass container. Sometimes I'll add a few drops of pure organic peppermint essential oil and that's it.

It leaves my mouth cleaner than any toothpaste ever did and it's gotten the OK from my Dentist.

I have a sample of some soap on the way...I found a few companies but all are a little pricey but then found this girl and she has a very reasonably priced tooth soap.

See my wife is really into the natural products and thus now so am I...I will have to say the natural products may be a bit more money but all beat the synthetic mass produced stuff any day....

I just ordered a pure bristle brush and a badger brush from classicshaving.com to go with my new tooth soap and will put up a post later to tell people about it...

is this the appropriate place for this post.

flouride is bad for a few reasons...as is the added glycerin in many toothpastes...

flouride is really bad for peoples metabolism...my wife has hypothyroidism and flouride even further reduces her thyroid function...

plus just looking to go as natural and green as possible.

I also have been using soap (real soap) for brushing my teeth for a a few years now. Nevermind the floride, notice the almost universal directions on all commercial toothpastes:

children under 6 years: Do not use unless directed by a dentist or a physician-

children under 12 years: instruct in good brushing and rinsing habits to minimize swallowing-

these directions which are really "warnings" are there for a reason. Google or wiki the the list of ingredients on the back of a tube of crest, colgate or any other commercial toothepaste.

Some of the ingredients are down right scary-

p.s. Real soap has virtualy no taste to it at all. Only synthetic soaps taste like the devil's bunghole-

My late Grandfather used tp brush his teeth with soap. I don't know why though...

Some people say it (flouridated toothpaste) makes their skin break out.
