    Default Lotion or Shaving Cream?

I was wondering, since lotion in general makes the skin moist, if applied to the face will it make the hair moist too, eliminating the use of shaving cream?

Shaving cream makes the face slick and cushions the face in addition to mositurizing and softining the hairs. A lotion could, however, serve as an aftershave in place of a balm. I would not suggest shaving without cream or soap unless you have no other choice.

I believe there are a few non-lathering creams out there, I know that Crabtree and Evelyn makes one which is part of their "naturals line." For some reason, I'm not seeing it on the website at the moment.

Why couldn't use just use bottled water or some water out of an spring or something? The water doesn't need to be warm...
