Chris, I thought your wife 86'd the stuff from getting a whiff of the sample you got from the Utopian. Speaking of which, has anyone heard from him since the move?

Funny, when I am in the washroom sometimes, I just pick up the jar to smell it. I LOVE the smell.
I am also an Absinthe drinker (some people hate anise/licorice scents) and wear Lilac Vegital despite my families HATE of the stuff. :)
You're correct, Bruce. After bringing home the Tabac sample from Ron, I complied with my wife's wish and tossed it as she found the smell just short of revolting. Singlewedge has graciously offered to send me his Tabac sample at no charge (thanks Singlewedge). I want to give it a try and won't be telling my wife until AFTER I shave with it. I'll report back my opinion here since I want to see how it shaves AND what it smells like post shave. I also want to get my wife's opinion of the smell post shave.
Ron is MIA since his last post on 8/15/2009.

Perhaps some evil moderator decided to hide it? ;) :D
Tabac is my all time favorite!
I love it over everything else that I have tried.
Keep looking until you find your favorite.
In the meantime you can send me your Tabac that you will NOT be using.
:)
If you read the quoted thread, you'll find what Seraphim and I think about Tabac (and probably have a nice laugh, too).
EDIT: Here's a hint:

My incomplete Tabac story:
As previosly mentioned, last year upon request, I was able to slice a few slivers off of Ron aka Utopian's Tabac soap to try a few shaves with it. The smell slapped me a bit. I brought it home and my wife said she hated the smell. To keep the peace, I chucked it without a shave. Its reported eficacy still intriqued me. I'm a diehard Mama Bear soap fan but I'm usually into trying new shaving things that work well.
Singlewedge graciously gave me his Tabac cream sample recently. I received it last week at work and decided to give the scent a try on my skin by taking a dab and washing my hands with it. The smell lasted through three handwashings with an unscented liquid soap for over 12 hours (decreasing a bit with each subsequent hand washing). I had a variety of emotional reactions to the scent of Tabac throughout the workday when I'd periodically smell my hands directly or the air cloud surrounding them. Sorry to say, at best I reacted with a dislike for the scent. At worst, I would say I found the scent almost sickeningly offensive. Sorry Tabac guys! Diversity makes the world go around!
My wife hated the smell. She said she found nothing masculine about it whatsoever and said instead, to her, it conjured up images of cheap drugstore old lady perfume or old lady scented talcum. It reminds me of the drugstore Aqua Net maximum hold hairspray that the punk girls who used to be in my circle of friends in the mid eighties used to spike their hair with.
I'm actually still planning on whipping up some of the Tabac with the old Vulfix natural bristle brush I never use anymore and giving it a shave to be able to see how it shaves. I'll be waiting until a time when I'm either in the doghouse or I'm away from home on an overnight (both cases, hopefully won't come around for awhile:)).
I don't consider myself a scent snob, I like a lot of weird scents, but I don't use cologne or after shave and maybe Tabac therefore, is just too intense for me.

I love the smell of Tabac in the morning :)
My dear Max,
If that is your stash of Tabac, I salute you, sir.
I have two torpedo-shaped jugs of the aftershave and three pucks of the soap remaining in my stash and am already starting to get paranoid that I don't have enough.
Regards,
Obie
