Default Art Of Shaving creams - any good?

Im on vacation in the US and came across an Art of Shaving store inside a large shopping centre. Naturally I had a look around and saw some great smelling large tubs of shaving creams.

I was considering buying a scented one, lavender I think, but wanted to do some home work first.

I cant find any info on here about them, but has anyone had any experience with this brand and are they good?

    Thanks

Don't know about the creams, but the SOAPS are awesome, if a wee bit overpriced.

I have, and I'll issue a warning first: because there are many variables involved in anything that has to do with facial skin, I would take these reviews with a truckload of salt. That said, you cannot really go wrong with AOS's creams. They are good creams. And in the US, you should be able to pick them up at a sensible price. In Europe, I would definitely not buy them, because creams like Castle Forbes (which I find better, anyhow) simiply perform better - for me. You might want to pick up their pre and aftershave, too. When combined, they are really quite good.

I used several jars of AOS unscented consecutively when I restarted wet shaving. It was great. Unfortunately I felt the need to branch out and have ultimately decided on another product as my mainstay. Mostly from a price point of view.

You won't be disappointed with the lavender. I have it as well as the pre shave oil and after shave balm. I'm new to this stuff but I enjoy the smell and the smooth shave the cream gives me. Add just a little bit of water to get the lather looking good. I just wet my fingers and let them drip into my mug, usually all it takes..

    Hiya,

I've had excellent results using the AOS lemon and unscented creams. The lemon is a mild scented single note cream with no sweetness added. Very nice, but subtle.

I use the unscented often, and I add various fragrances to small batches. It's like having an unlimited choice of shaving creams to use.

The main thing though is the performance.......one of my favorites. Very easy to lather, and the results are thick, slick and protective.

It's $22 for a 5 ounce tub, which isn't out of line for what you get. I believe this company uses only EO's for their fragrances, and I know their version of sandalwood smells like the real deal(Mysore).

Anyway, sounds like you'll see for yourself soon enough. I've used the lavender in the past, and it's a medium scented cream that should please your sniffer.

    Martin
