Default Requesting massive feedback on 3 T's

OK, here's the deal, I'll be going to the big city, so have to pass by their shave shops. But, looking at the prices, they can go quite high, so I need you lads to list me your number 1 cream (or soap) of the 3T's. The one you almost couldn't live without...

    Here's my list so far:

I buy for sure: Taylor's avocado & rose.

    Now the other two:

    I was thinking:

Truefitt&Hill: 1805 - But is it worth it? I'm only buying T&H if they are truly better than Taylor, because they charge you quite a few bucks more, you can get 3 taylors for one T&H...

Trumpers: sandalwood? Not sure here either, can't find any recommendations!

The Taylor's are set, I just need help on T&H and Trumpers. I'd like to get one of each, but it is not necessary if they are not worth it of course.

I posted this on another forum as well, because I'm leaving soon and really need to hear from you lads or I will leave the shop with 20 creams and without my girlfriend lol. I want to limit the purchase, ONE tumpers and ONE T&H (or none if they offer no great stuff).

For their prices, I'm expecting flipping great creams, not mediocer 'have to add glycerine and wonderdust' to make it shave good.

Oh and I don't care for the packaging at all.

The only Taylor's I remember having was in a tube and I couldn't stand it and gave it away. I have Trumper's sandalwood puck in a wooden bowl and it is merely alright IME. I've no experience with T&H. The truth is no matter how anyone else feels about a cream or soap is of little consequence. It is a completely individual thing..... IMHO

I agree, but with a lot of feedback you can at least weed out the really bad creams and get an idea of what might possibly offer a great shave, otherwise it is impossible to choose one from all those different soaps & creams they sell..

I haven't had a lot of experience with creams but I like Salter's in Vetiver, Lime, Sandalwood, and their Wild Rose is alright in the lathering but the aroma is nothing to write home about. I really like the consistency.

Castle Forbes is great but I don't consider it a cream. To me it is more like a puck of soap. For soaps I like Mitchell's Wool Fat, Tabac, anything QED or the Gentlemen's Quarter. Also DR Harris is good IME.

    Thanks for that :-)

Note though that I'm looking specifcaly for Taylors of Old Bond Street, Truefitt & Hill and Trumpers feedback, as they are all in the same street/on the same block, so I'll visit all three of them. And I'm not coming back from london without buying myself some souvenirs With the big city, I meant I'm going to London, sorry about not being clear.

Ahhso. Have a great trip, I'm envious. Here is another forum's review section on creams. I haven't looked but I'll bet you'll find some info there if it is anywhere.

I like Trumper's Lime, if it's not a leisurely shave it's the one I almost always reach for. If you are visiting Jermyn Street, which sounds like you are by your post, there are a couple of other shops you may want to pop in to as well (D R Harrisjust off Jermyn Street, and a couple of perfumeries that also sell men's shave soaps etc,) Make sure you have plenty of room in your bag!

I like the T&H stuff. All of it really. The 1805 is a great scent and IMHO you can't go wrong with it. It is a toss up for me... the 1805 or the West Indies Lime. Both are great, easy lather, great moisturizer and the scent stays with me for a good bit in the mornings. The AF balms are great as well in each of the above scents.
Never tried Trumper's and have only tried the TOBS Eton college cream, which I like as well.

TOBS, then T&H and Trumpers. Personally, I would go for TOBS only - matter of preference, of course. I like their lavender scented cream quite a bit. Also, their aftershaves are top notch. See also Shaving Soaps/Shaving Creams Reviews - Page 2 - Straight Razor Place Forums and onwards.
