Cool! I can pick one up for $2. at job lot. I will try it.
Careful with it it can make things to hot and dry out your lather.
Yep, that's what I use. I set a mug filled with very hot water on it and pop in a brush before showering. As mentioned, you may have to add a little water as you go but it keeps things nice and hot. Feels gooooood on my head :)
that would awesome does it have a temp control knob so you can get it just right then never mess with it again
No temp control. I bought one at job lot plus a bowl that will fit the heating plate. Large enought to fit my cream bowl inside of. I will try it tonight and let you know.

Well i tried it tonight. Very nice. I placed my bowl inside another with a little water. Keep it warm. Next time i will try it with out the other bowl.
Keep us updated on this, I've been thinking of doing this myself. My sister-in-law give me a warmer some years ago, which at the time seemed pretty dumb so I ended up throwing it out. Guess who the dummy is now.:)
is that thing cordless???
I was wondering how hot it got the water? I want it to boil, so if this can get it in that neighborhood I wont have to get the baby food warmer.
Same here! I had one and threw it out. Worst, I went to Job lot last week and they had a box of them $2. I went yesterday and they were all gone except for this one which was $4. :( Still cheep but man I could have got 2 for the money. Next try will be with out the larger bowl. The bowl gets warm but not super hot so i think it will work. I will let you know.

Why not just fill the latrger bowl with warm water and have your lather bowl set in that. budjet scuttle right there with no electricity wasted.
I've been using a mug warmer for quite some time. I use the warmer so much that I keep a back-up for when it eventually craps out. I use it with my lathering bowl, which I use in conjunction with a shaving mug.
this is what I use and really love it.

We bought a Crock-Pot recently that came with a mini version. I tried it for making lather, and I ended up putting it back in the kitchen :p
It did keep things warm, but it was too warm. The lather would dry out in between passes, so I had to essentially recreate the lather each time. Hot entirely, but enough to discourage me from using it. I'm glad this is working for you. I would have thought you would have had the same issue.
I ended up going back to my big coffee mug and floating it in the sink. I'm planning to buy a scuttle though. The mug takes up too much room in the sink full of water. I'm worried I'll smack my blade against it when I'm rinsing.
I started using an insulated serving bowl some time ago to fix that problem. I now use a normal shaving mug, but I still rest it in warm water in that insulated bowl:

It does a good job. Just as well, really, since electrical equipment in the bathroom is a no-no over here with our 240V mains electrical supply.
No that's just a plain insulated bowl (like a Thermos.) The 240V is why we shouldn't use mains gear in bathrooms here.
Edit> Ah I may have misread your post. In any case my makeshift scuttle works well, the lather doesn't get cold even after 45 minutes or so. I am a slow shaver! :D
