Tried new soap tonight. WOW!
I was at the grocery store today and happened to walk down the isle that had the shaving products. So I looked to see what they had. To my amazement there before my eyes was Surrey Glycerine Shave Cakes. I might have had one more shave in my mug if I was luckey and my order from Classic' hasn't gotten here yet so I bought one. It was $1.87. I felt like a kid at Christmas. As soon as the kids were asleep I jumped in the shower and started my prep routine. Shower soaking my face in the hot stream frequently, keeping my face wet with hot water while I dry off, lather, strop, lather again and shave. The soap lathered VERY quickly (better than the Marvey's I had been using) and man there was a lot of it! LATHER FOR DAYS!! The smell was very pleasant. I proceeded with a typical 3-pass shave. I used my 6/8 Streiht. I had the absolute best shave I have had to date. Although I did have some nicks and burn (not very bad) it was amazingly smooth and close. Even my trouble spots came out better than they ever have. I attribute the nicks and burn to the less than ideal edge on the razor. I need to put it on the hone. I'm going to try it with my 5/8 Dovo next time. If you haven't tried these products yet you REALLY need to. I know I will be trying all of them. A Badger brush for $20! There's not a whole lot of info on their website but it's worth checking out. It lists their products and has a link to download an order form. I guess that's enough to get the job done. http://www.vdhent.com/mensline.php
