I don't have tons of experience, but I really like the Real Shaving Company stuff (cream, $5 at Rite Aid) and Proraso (C.O. Bigelow from Bath & Body works, 4 tubes for $10). The proraso wakes you up a bit, but it's refreshing and a great way to start the day. However, I usually shave at night on week days so I tend to use the stuff from RSC. I do kind of like Old Dominion Soap Co's glycering based soaps. They don't lather particularly well without really loading the brush but it's mild and smells nice.

Musgo Real cream can be had for $10.00 if you search. That does not include shipping, but that does not count.

Arko Shave Stick competes with any of the big boys and it can be had for under $5.

My vote for the very best value in a shaving soap would have to go to Arko shave sticks. They are about the size of an ordinary puck but shaped differently and sell for about $1.59. Excellent lather, no fancy scents, just rich heavy tallow based lather. The very best for the buck in my opinion.

Arko is definitely the best and dirt cheap as well. Proraso is a good second. In Italy to be had for just over one Euro ( approx. US$ 1.50 ) in the supermarkets but more expensive elsewhere.

Don't forget Cella. If you buy a 1 kg block it is very cheap per oz.

    Default Quality Inexpensive Shave Creams

I have recently seen several adds for good quality shave creams advertised. I purchased one just a couple of weeks ago called Cremo. It is available at Walgreens and Amazon.com. The price is 7.00. I was very impressed with the cushion and glyde, though it is a low lather cream. The glyde is better than I have experienced thus far.

Good luck on your hunt. Maq
