Default New Van Der Hagen Soap

The new Van Der Hagen shave soaps have not quite been released for sale in the US, but my barber who is a Van Der Hagen dealer, somehow convinced them to give him some to sell. The glycerin based soap lathers up quite easily--or as my barber put it, "It almost lathers itself if you just look at it." It provides a great lather without needing cream or glycerin (for those uberlather people). The scented soap smells amazing. It's light, but strong and is very refreshing. It's worth trying!

Having never tried VDH, I'm assuming this new variety is an improvement over the old formula?

I haven't used the new VDH soap yet so can't be much help there but since you haven't tried any VDH products before Ryan I would suggest trying VDH deluxe very nice soap for 1-2 bucks

I've actually never tried the VDH deluxe soap, but hear it's pretty good. The deluxe contains aloe and shea butter, and comes in a 2.5oz puck. I'm not sure if it's tallow based or not. The new soap is the "luxury" soap which contains shea, mango and cocoa butters as well as 10% glycerin. This one comes in a 3.5oz puck that should fit most shave mugs. Amazon's releasing it on Thursday the 24th.

Thanks guys. I would try it out to see how it stacks up against a cheaper soap like Proraso, but I've never seen it sold in Canada. Online ordering probably wouldn't make much sense as the shipping would likely be more than the product itself...

Your probally right about that Ryan in that it would probally cost you more to ship then the actual puck unless you buy it in bulk off amazon. The Deluxe though is more or less my everyday soap and always leaves me happy when I use it. If you really want to try pm me your info and I'll send you out an extra puck I have.
