    Default Erasmic Shaving Soap

    Ladies and gentlemen:

Have you had experience with the British shaving soap Erasmic? This is an old barbershop-type shaving soap and nothing fancy. I look forward to reading your thoughts.

    Regards,

    Obie

I haven't tried it. How's the scent? Does it provide good lubricity? I don't think it's very expensive, so based on your and other reports, I may have to try it.

    Default Erasmic Shaving Soap

    Hello, Wayne:

I have eyed this soap for a long time, but never tried it. I understand it is a good soap — good lather, glide and cushion — with a pleasing British barbershop fragrance. I am looking for opinions from our learned members.

    Regards,

    Obie

Never tried it, but I like the container. It reminds me of the Jupiter II!

The cost of Erasmic can depend on where you buy it. A tube of the cream can be as low as $4.95 and as high as $15.00.

I usually purchase mine from an online vendor who offers it at the low end of the price range.

Thank you for the useful information on Erasmic. The brand seems to have had its ups and downs.

But, given the relatively low price, worth a try.

I have a tube of the cream.

The smell is great and exactly as described.

    Lathers readily and quite easily.

The cushion, on the other hand, is not fantastic. The shaves I have had with it have been typical for what I have come to expect from Glycerine based soaps. A little bit harsh.

Saying that, I can see myself always having some on hand because I really do enjoy the scent and find myself just feeling like using it every now and then. It is that kind of product.

Worth noting is that I have heard a whisper from a British member that the production of the cream may soon be discontinued. Not sure of the accuracy of this information but it would be a shame if this was the case. Would indeed need to stock up on some.

    Obie,

    Hello friend...

I have both the Erasmic soap and cream in my shaving arsenal. Both have a delightful barbershop, powdery scent. I prefer the cream.

I find the soap to be a bit difficult to create a lather with. I usually combine it with one of my shaving creams to get a rich lather.
