I came across this site too, quite a while ago. They are local. By that I mean the Indianapolis, IN metropolitan area, I believe.
I was about to order from them, but I think they have outrageous shipping charges. I'll check and see.

Sounds like drop-shipping then. As far as I know MdC have no retailers outside France.
Theseus, my dear friend, thank you for your research. These shipping charges are insane. What is wrong with these people? Well, sir, I live in the U.S., and I can understand the outrageous charges Martin de Candre charges to ship from France. When somebody in the U.S. charges such outrageous shipping to a U.S. address, I turn up my nose and shuffle off. No, thank you.Quote:

Which is a normal shipping price really. That's about what I have to pay for a priotity mail package shipped from US.-
If you think a few pucks of shaving soap is expensive to ship try ordering a few pounds of soap from MDC like my wife did. it will take your breath away and shrink your whiskers.
Is it me or is the mdc site e-shopping down. I have been trying to order for two days and everytime I click order I get an error.

Hmmmm... the price this site shows me is $39.40 US for a jar. I didn't see anything about shipping charges, but I assume that I didn't get far enough into the checkout process, correct? Anyway, if shipping is indeed $32 extra that would make it comparable to buying directly from MdC. So the only advantage I can fathom is that you may get your order sooner than if shipped from France :shrug:
Something else to consider that hasn't been mentioned yet: shipping charges seem to be calculated based on a minimum weight of 1.5 kg, which equals 3.3 lbs for our metric-challenged friends. It's either is a massive jar of MdC or a massive rip-off....
Ryan, my dear friend, at this stage in my life I'll believe anything, including singing rabbits and dancing racoons. In examining the shipping charges from these folks, I am more inclined to believe massive rip-off.

as of a month or two ago the prices for mdc went up...they also increased the jar from 170grams to 200 grams.
i emailed them to ask if there was a distributor in america..they said they had no intentions of any distributors ever.
seems like they are the only place that has it plus ebay once and a while
I tried buying MDC from them a week ago I wanted 2 units I got all set to pull the trigger with credit card in hand and was floored to see the shipping costs. I instantly backed off. It may be great soap but it certainly isnt that great to flip that coin out.
everytime i use my MdC i wonder why i have any other soaps.....then when i use the other soaps, i wonder the same thing once again.
i guess we are in the golden age of shaving soaps....keep buying!
