Em's Place

After reading many posts on the topic, I'm experimenting with Proraso and Tabac (en route). However, for years I was happy with the glycerin soaps from Em's Place (web store). I would literally put a cake or two into my bowl and nuke it until it liquified. It would then cool into the bowl, never to rattle or move. I found it made a nice, rich lather. She has many other men's shaving and toiletry items, as well.

Anyone familiar with Em(ily)?

Never bought her soaps but a few years ago, back before Simpson sold out to Vulfix, she hand picked me a couple of Supers and was a real nice person to deal with on the phone. I have never tried that nuking glycerin soap to liquefy into the bowl. Seems to me you might lose some of the essential oils or fragrance but I guess if it works , it works.

Jimmy, in my limited experience doing it, it only takes 5 seconds or so and it's liquid. I've not noticed a loss of scent.

Right! I don't cook the stuff - just heat it enough for it to melt and flow into the mug. Never noticed any problems. But, as mentioned b4, I'm experimenting now with Proraso in a scuttle. Nice to have warm lather for second and third pass and touch ups.
