L'Occitane, my mileage just varied.
Around three years ago, I purchased a cake of l'Occitane Cade shave soap, along with the nice Aluminium (Aluminum, to my friends across the water).
I didn't get on with it at all, couldn't get it to lather, even tried to use it as a bath soap, it was as inert as a peice of white plastic. The aluminium dish also turned black with corrosion in very short order.
For my birthday, (yesterday) a friend gave me...yes, the cade shave soap, the dish and some of their excellent Cade shave balm, which I did get on with previously but was too tight to buy a second time.
Anyway, tried, the soap this morning, world of difference, it lathered up effortlesly, enough for three passes, excellent shave, can't praise it enough. They also appear to have Anodised (Anodized) the dish, so hopefully the corrosion problem may be solved.
No idea why it worked this time, I have moved to another apartment since I last tried it, but Doha is small and I'm pretty sure all of the water comes from the same desalination plant. The finish of the soap seemed less "plastic" than before (perhaps I forgot to unwrap it the first time).
