Default L'Occitane, my mileage just varied.

Around three years ago, I purchased a cake of l'Occitane Cade shave soap, along with the nice Aluminium (Aluminum, to my friends across the water).

I didn't get on with it at all, couldn't get it to lather, even tried to use it as a bath soap, it was as inert as a peice of white plastic. The aluminium dish also turned black with corrosion in very short order.

For my birthday, (yesterday) a friend gave me...yes, the cade shave soap, the dish and some of their excellent Cade shave balm, which I did get on with previously but was too tight to buy a second time.

Anyway, tried, the soap this morning, world of difference, it lathered up effortlesly, enough for three passes, excellent shave, can't praise it enough. They also appear to have Anodised (Anodized) the dish, so hopefully the corrosion problem may be solved.

No idea why it worked this time, I have moved to another apartment since I last tried it, but Doha is small and I'm pretty sure all of the water comes from the same desalination plant. The finish of the soap seemed less "plastic" than before (perhaps I forgot to unwrap it the first time).

Happy Birthday!!! I am glad you enjoy the Cade. I really like the Aroma and have soap and cream. I actually mix the two, some soap and some cream. Provides great lather and a woderful aroma.

I wish I could use it. I love the scent and so does SWMBO, but I break out in a rash.

Does anyone know if they've reformulated it in the last 4-5 years? I might be temped to try again.

I had good luck the first time out with L'occtaine cade. I'm glad it finally worked out for you. It is a good soap. I had a similar problem with very popular soap, which is no longer made. It took some time, and 3 scuttles later, it worked finally. I have no idea what I did differently, but now I see what all the talk was about.

My GF gave me the after shave balm and a face scrub as a gift a while ago. I recently discovered the world of straight razor shaving so I figured sticking with the CADE line would be a good idea and I purchased the shave oil, dish and soap. Its nice to get some conformation on a good product and that the redesign was(hopefully) for the better.

    oh and Happy Birthday!

    Happy Birthday!

Cade is my favorite, although I'm always pouring various cremes on top of it and mixing them in with good results.

I'm with mvcrash, I tried the soap by it self, and it's ok, but the combination of soap and cream, are a great marriage. Actualy, it's my favorite (MWF, Mike's Natural, Proraso, Cella, Tabac, Casttle Forbes) for protection and scent, although Tabac and Casttle Forbes are close second for simplicity, protection and scent. Double O

    Happy birthday Ace

I only bought my first cade soap about 2 months ago so I cant comment on the change in fomula. Then again I also bought the cream as well and combine them to make uberlather.

Havent tried the soap on its own just yet but I think I will give it a crack!

I have l'Occitane cade soap about a year now, and as I'm not big fan of the soaps I still have more then 50-60%! Really I need to start to use it more often as I want to try some other stuff. I'm really love the smell and I have l'Occitane cade balm, but I like more thick lather which I make with creams.
