Default Replacement for AoS Shave Cream

Hey all! First post on here. I jumped in to the SR shaving and also picked up a DE for travel. I ended up with an Art of Shaving gift cert. and bought the sandalwood set. The cream will need to be replaced soon so here's my questions. First, where, on a quality scale, does the AoS stuff fall? And second, the gf really likes the sandalwood scent so what would be a comparable or better cream with a nice sandalwood scent. There are jut so many options. Thanks in advance! - Jack

SRD Sandalwood, I love the stuff You cannot beat the scent and quality IMO.
I have to say as far as the AOS soap I have no hands on with it.
    It is just Whisker Whacking

Honestly, AOS Sandalwood stands alone. Actually, to me it does not smell like sandalwood at all. I am not saying it smells bad, it is really great stuff, but it is not close to say sandalwood EO.

I have been using Castle Forbes. They make a really great cream, to me a lot better than AOS. Castle Forbes has a cedar and sandalwood that is more earthy smelling. I like it a lot. It is really different from AOS though.

AOS is quality stuff. I just wanted to try new things. I see AOS as a gateway drug to other products cheaper or the same price.

LOL! That's exactly what it's been for me. I know there's a lot of other, cheaper options out there that'll be just as good. It's going to be a long journey I'm sure.

So true, and there are other scents beyond sandalwood too!! I am afraid there will not be enough time to try them all.

I was going to suggest this too but it was a long time ago when I used it. The AoS cream is much softer than CF and probably easier to lather for a newbie to this hobby.

I think most manufactures of shaving soap/cream make a sandalwood and they all probably smell a bit different, soooo just try them all lol.

Caslte Forbes is also twice the cost of the AOS creams. I enjoy both and think the AOS creams are a great balance of cost and product.

Looks like I'll just have to start trying new brands. I appreciate the suggestions tho. Gives me a good start. I've also seen a lot of good comments about the TOBS products. I'll probably see what I think of them too.

    This is not quite true:

    AoS $25 for 5oz. = $5 per oz.
    CF $35 for 6.8oz = $5.15 per oz.

AoS's price is set at $25; This is the price of CF at one of the vendors that sponsors this site, at many places it is more like $38...
