The Art of Shaving creams, thoughts?
Just wondering if anyone has tried em and what did you think?

I have tried almost all The Art of Shaving creams and soap and find them of quality. From what I understand, earlier they were made by Valobra of Italy. No idea who makes them now. Either way, I prefer the sandalwood and the lavender, and still have some lavender cream and some sandalwood soap left. Good stuff.

The only bad thing I've ever heard someone say about them is they're pricey.

I have the sandalwood and Lavender. They are excellent, top notch creams, both in performance and scent. They are among my favorites. The sandalwood is almost gone, I am thinking about replacing it with the AOS ocean kelp.

I have Sandalwood and Ocean Kelp creams. These are premium quality creams that lather nicely and smell great. The price is also premium, but still a pretty good value when you consider the volume of 150 ml (5oz) compared with 75-100 ml sizes from other brands like Muhle or Edwin Jagger at a similar price break point. One of these days someone should post on this forum the cost/ml of the top creams. That would be a valid way to compare price.

By the way, my AOS cream label (not the plastic container) says made in the USA. But it also says Geneva * London. I am not sure where these creams are really manufactured?

Lavender and the Sandalwood here also, I received both as gifts so price was not a factor...
Both give excellent performance, the Sandalwood scent is pretty strong though, and is right at my max limit for skin irritation, so if you are sensitive to strong FO's then I would suggest a different scent...Gammaray likes this.

Like the Ocean Kelp. I get a good lather and a comfortable shave. My son also likes AOS but he uses a Fusion.
The Swiss Miss likes AOS creams but considers them a bit pricy.

The ocean kelp is the one I actually liked the most out of all of them as far as scent goes. The sandalwood is nice but wasn't quite up my ally.

Great quality - great easy lather, good protection and glide. AoS products are in my regular rotation. If price is an issue, hang around eBay for a bit. I have picked up starter kits for 10 USD (retail $25), and full size kits for around $60. You can also pick up just the individual products there as well. So if you don't want to spend the full price, just be patient on the bay...
