Thanked: 0Pasted Linen?
Ok, so I overhoned my 6/8 straight razor. It all started off when I gradually noticed that the edge wasn't quite as sharp as it used to be and was pulling more and more each day than I preferred. So I decided to strop it on the linen side of my Russian leather strop. I gave it about 50 passes or so. And when I shaved with it again, it REALLY pulled this time. I looked at the edge when I was through, didn't see a wire edge, but when I did a thumbnail test to make sure, it had that gritty kind of feeling. I suspect that the strop's been pasted with lime or chalk.
I've only used soap on the linen strop, but I understand that it's considered to be mildly abrasive, but what exactly is the grit of chalk? I usually do 20 passes on linen and about that much afterwards.
And, would it be better if I just stropped with the linen side say, every two days?
Thanks for the help guys
