Default New strop and my practice razor

I got a strop to start. and started practicing on gold dollar so far no cuts but the razor is not shave ready. I'm just trying to get used to the movement before my first shave with my other razor.

what sort of strop is it? Just out of interest, you can't just tell half the story or I won't sleep

    The web sites description:
3" Latigo Leather For Full Blade Coverage
    Luxury Mahogany Color
Chicago Screw Fasteners (for easy change-out or upgrade of materials)
Swivel Snap and O-ring for easy mounting options.
    D-Rings For Easy Grip
    Secondary Nylon Strop Attached

For all I know Latigo Leather could mean fake leather but since i expect to cut it I guess it doesn't matter...
