Here's a paddle strop I finished today, it's a beast, but it should do the trick, eh?

I used basswood instead of balsa this time, not quite as soft so I should get less of that microscopic edge rounding.

The basswood is glued to a big slab of red oak, so this thing is rigid and heavy.



I have it next to a Tony Miller 2 1/2" red latigo for comparison.

What do ya think? Overkill? Is there even such a thing?
