Default Having trouble keeping my strop flat

I got a TM starter strop (not sure if it's leather or vegan) used off B&B, and I've been having some trouble getting it flat. I've found that once I get about 7 inches away from the top, the center of the strop dips such that razors only contact on the edges of the strop.

I've tried putting the strop on a flat surface and laying books on top (textbooks, no less), but after a day at most, it reverts back to a bowed shape. I was hoping someone might have another suggestion on how to keep it flat.

    Thanks.

EDIT: My bad for not searching. Reading other threads now.

The easiest fix may be to gently flex the leather opposite the cup. I usually place a few fingers on each side and squeeze, causing the center to bow upwards, the edges to curl down then slowly run y hand down the length of the strop a few times. One can also lay it longways along the edge of a table and sort of gently fold it along the edge causing a bow instead of a cup shape. Then go shoeshine fasion over a tables edge a bit to even it out.

Once "corrected" they tend to stay flat.....if not send me a PM or e-mail and I'll fix you up. (and no, you won't hear Dovo or Jemico making that offer <g>).

Thanks Tony. I found your advice in another thread, so I worked the strop for a while and it's back under books now. If after a few days I still have no luck, I'll be in touch.
