Thread: Warm Almost hot blade

I was following the instructions of breaking in the canvas strop with a little white soap and then rubbing it off with a smooth glass jar.

I stropped at my normal speed 30 and leather 55. I stopped there because I noticed that the Torrey was getting hotter and hotter. It was warm coming off the canvas, and the warmth was coming to the tail when I hit fifty.

Anyone experience this.

BTW, shaved really well. Almost too sharp.

Never experienced this, but then my normal stropping speed is only about 80 laps a minute. How fast is yours?

Not that fast. I did not time it. I think I did the 30 in about one minute maybe one minute and a half.

That is why I was shocked.

Can't imagine why. Sounds like the results are great though!l
