Strop deflection would have to be severe before problems would show up on a razors edge.
Hunching over the strop and relying on just the arm to keep tension on the strop is the way too creating the wrong muscle memory :)
Tensioning hand too the hip/waist area, straight back and shoulders back with only the head lent forward too view the proceedings is my way and of course all this in a relaxed manner :) Let your body weight act as a dampener for the strop.
Would not the practice of a relaxed stance with accompanied hand rubbing of the strop teach muscle memory of a practical kind?
