Thanked: 0Old strop
I got an old strop resently for christmas from the wife that looks as though it is very dry and the edges are curled up. I am wanting to know if it is repairable and what I need to do, or is it just a wall hanger now?

Give it plenty neatsfoot oil and then iron it at the same temperature you would iron wool.

There are all kinds of tricks but when it looks like that it's usually time for the nuclear option. If kees' trick doesn't work soak it in warm water until saturated and then let it dry very slowly. It should come out perfectly flat and then you can address the dryness issue. I'm assuming it isn't cracked or have fissures in it. If it does it's toast.

Thanked: 0OK, thanks alot guys. I think it may have a crack in the middle going length ways. I haven't moved it much in fear of ruining it. I'll try the tricks and see what comes about.
