Could somebody do an at length video on the SRD modular paddle strop? This is my one and only strop at this point, with premium 1 leather.I'm not sure I'm using it right or to best advantage based on the few short clips I've seen.

Here's my humble contribution to Stroptober :)
Please bare over with the language and stuttering, I'm not very comfortable being in front of the camera, and even less in a foreign language, I think it took 20-30 takes before I got a useful result, but hey, we all take one for the team, right ;)
Thank-you for this video! I have met people from all over the world and never stopped being amazed that many of them could speak to me in my language, English, and I could not say even one word in theirs. Thanks again, great video.
With the tons of informative Vids already on here, I thought I would just do some Hints and Tips...
I say it in the Vid but I'll say it here too, There is no right or wrong with some of the stuff I point out, give it a try and see if it helps you...
Sorry the lighting is just OK ..

Forgot to put this old one in with the big loom strop. Really shows the stropping stroke.

Have fun
I have a question..They say not to apply any pressure....but in this video it looks like he is adding some pressure and making the razor dip down in the strop.
Let it be known I am a noobie...but I always see conflicting claims.
It's important to use very very little pressure when you are new to stropping. Using pressure and then rolling the edge (lifting the spine rather than keeping the razor completely flat on the strop) will dull the edge, and you'll end up with a razor that's duller not sharper. Once you get better at the mechanics of stropping, there is some pressure that is used, but I still use very very little.
It's not an exact science, I have never done an X stroke, doing only one diagonal of the X and it works for me :-)

nzFuzzy, I think your video is the best of a consistent stroke (at the slower speed) that I have seen yet, although I am a new (old Fart) returning to the fold from many years absent, it looks to me as though you are dragging the blade on the stroke more than the spine and maybe a little heave on the pressure. Other than that, great technique.
True I have forgotten everything I knew about the strop, it just ain't right. (Or ...I just can't see very well)
Just my 2 cents, certainly not worth much.
Thanks for the video.
Finally, someone believes the way I do about the finger position...Thanks ACE

I know this is an old thread but...
Birnando, would you be able to re-post your video from post #149?
