Size: 111.4 KBI just went down to the op shop and bought a 50c 80's midriff leather belt. Very thin leather and grainy but seem like the real deal and is about 4 inches wide at the thinnest portion. (Yes thinnest of it's width, it's about 5-6 inches where the buckles are.)

The strops I see in the shops are quite thick and dense and seem smooth-will this leather do a similar job? Or will it need treatment? It has the old style double buckles so I have hung it from them on the bathroom door and am slowly stropping and with no pressure trying it out-I usually use newspaper as I don't yet have a bought strop so I can't compare...

Plus I am in Australia and can get kangaroo leather as cheap as chips-again can I use it straight up (I don't mean on a bench) or do I need to treat it and make a backing for it to be a hanging strop?

Any input to my rapidly growing knowledge would be appreciated...
