Default Fixing a crappy strop before my good one

Ok so I am trying to be smart for a change and practice before I do it on my good strop first.

Ok so I have a crappy strop that I nicked up. To fix it I:
    *sanded it with 600 sandpaper
    *used contact cement
    *sanded over the dried cement

    results:
*well I see the cement discolored the strop which I don't really care
    *the strop is completely smooth
*the sand paper took of the finish

will the strop still sharpen my blade?
will the strop hurt or dull my blade?

Looks like a fine repiar job the strop will work just fine perhaps a little better tahn original i like my strops well broken in and it takes a while but a little light sanding speeds that up at least it makes them the way i like my strops.
as long as the strop is fairly smooth it will work.

    enjoy,
    jim

Looks good to me. You should be able to feel the razor acting on the strop.
