I bet you got a good sum out if it. A good acoustic sounds good regardless of looks, it's in the wood and the build, they hold their value well and sometimes increase. I'd rather have a plain good sounding guitar than a mother of pearl inlayed high gloss thumper.

At the risk of totally hijacking this thread....

I have the same 12 string myself, and it's great bang for the buck. Had it for almost 10 years and still sounds fantastic. Unless you're into some heavy fingerpicking, 12 string guitars are pretty easy to play, though initially they will be rough even on the toughest callouses of a 6 string player. With practice, even fingerpicking patterns become fairly natural, and I'm no Lead Belly by anymeans....

I'll stick with my 61 SG. (Since we're talking guitars here...BTW, I just picked up a new Roland Space Echo (RE20) I'm driving the wife crazy.

Anyway, You could use the Guitar strap. I'd start with rough side, 10 laps or so, and then move to the smooth side, It'll work for sure. You can also use a belt.

Haven't had a GAS attack in awhile too many razors for now! I have a couple of Larrivees and a Martin that keeps me busy.

Sorry had to chime in on the guitar chatter!

I remember some older threads a few years ago that went into some detail about guitar straps as strops. I had an old cloth Fender strap I used for a spell. It was better than nothing and got me a decent shave. Leather is better.

I think the Martin straps are quite thin so be careful when stropping. Go slow till you get the hang of it. Just my two cents.

Awesome thread! I was literally just considering this today when picked up the bass. Perhaps could do a survey to find best guitar strap/razor strop combo! Or if any of the DIY stropmakers here could do custom straps to suit i know id be interested!

Hmmm I made a strap for my Les Paul out of an english saddle stirrup. I have another 1 around somewhere. The leather is smooth as silk and thick. It was a very nice saddle but the lady wanted some different stirrups for jumping as I recall. I could probably get 2 strops out of it. Dang I am going to have to make a list for the next time I go to storage.
