Well...each to his own, but here's how I do it:

Sign of a Stropaholic,,,,, :)
I have a hook screwed into the wall behind bathroom door about door handle height.
Shoulder height, zip tied to the door knob,,,,
What can I say, I'm am vertically challenged
Well for storage the hang on the hooks on the bottom of the towel shelf on the wall above the toilet tank, for use they hang from a leather string on the and towel rack beside the sink. Before you get too excited about a stropaholic John, I only have five.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:rofl2:
Thanks to everyone, I plan on using a hook around waist height and if that doesn't work then I'm doing the door knob method.
I got a robe hook from Lowes and installed it slightly higher that waist height next to the bathroom sink.

One of my strops has a ring that slips over the lever style knobs in my bathroom quite nicely. For the ones that don't have the ring, I hook them over the middle hinge of the door.
Just got a hook from home depot, plan on installing it tonight. Again, thanks to everyone for the help I'll let everyone know how I do with it.
I hang mine on a hook installed 52" (mid-chest height) above the bathroom floor. When I first started stropping, I used to have it hanging on a make-shift loop system I made out of shoe laces, about 60" above my closet floor. When I transferred to the bathroom, I found that I preferred the lower height.
I hang mine high out of reach when not in use,

then loop them over the the towel rail to used them
For sure ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I hang mine on the doorknob too, but the door is open and held back by one of those C clips:

I use it as a guide to how taut I pull the strop, and also how heavy handed I am with the razor on the strop. If the door unclips I've failed.
James.
My strop hooks are just north of my elbow and south of my chest. That's to say my strops angle upward. I know most like them angling downward, but up works for me.
I use eye hooks to ensure the strop will never "wiggle" off its anchor.
It wasn't deliberate I'm afraid. I hung (hanged?) it there out of necessity and then looked for justification as to why it was a good idea :D
James.
The key phrase there is "when not in use". Clearly when they are in use they are not out of reach.
Duh!
James.
You are assuming they are gotten down. What if he goes up to use them?
James.
Just a heavy brass hook at a level just below my bent elbow. Gives me a horizontal stroke. Haven't changed the height since I put it in a few years back.

I keep others not in use, or being improved, or coming and going, on the back of the door.

PS. I use a special oil and Pure neetsfoot to slowly renew a strop over a couple months. I use information found on line and in conversation with leather workers.
I would recommend trying out varoius heights before commiting to a hook location, just use a bit of string or similar and tie your strop to things at different heights around the house, or if you have a ladder just use the rungs to get a rough height.
I recently put an eye up in my bathroom to secure my strop to, but that was after a year of tying it to stuff and getting sick of keep having to undo knots whenever i had finished stropping. In my last house i used a hook that was attached to the back door, a good height but quite inconvenient.
My new eye is just below the towel rail in the bathroom so when it isnt in use we can pull a towel over it and you wouldnt even know it was there.
My bathroom has a vertical safety rail my the door way. I have a loop that can be moved up and down on it. To the loop I can attach the strop with a rotating clip. This way I can adjust the strop to ~ a 2ft variance in height while the strop can be removed to a dry location when not used.
This is a older thread but lots of ideas.

My bath servant holds the other end for me, she's 6' 3". :chapeau
haha s screw hidden underneath my desk, it falls off when not taught
Is the screw hidden under desk the 6'3" servant ???
You cheeky devil, Substance!
I wire tied a spring clip to the towel rack corner and on the strop side I use a carabiner to clip to the clip when I use it, and when Im done stropping I remove and clip & hang much higher on a wire shelf to keep people (namely me) from peeing on it, being so close to the toilet.
