Is it half a hoof print scar or the whole thing ?
Good to see you posting Neil.
Regarding the color of the back of Horween shell, Erwin Schrodinger once said a strop-back is neither tan nor black until we take it out of it's box and look at it. Nobel Prize for it, no joke. But I do believe the time has come to speak of other things. Of sailing ships and ceiling wax, cabbages and kings.
I used to have a girlfriend who's dad was named after Lewis Carroll...:D
For the OP, I know nothing about the color of the reverse side of a genuine Horween strop, but doing a google search for 'Horween Cordovan Razor Strop' yielded this photo. :chapeau

I noted that fact long, long ago. But I was brought up 'genteel' like and taught not to take advantage of dumb mofos as you all must know by now, so I never brought up the fact, obvious as it was.
However, as you yourself have pointed out the obvious you share the distinction with our dear friend from down-under, Ed, of being as mad as a box of frogs.
Don't you go claiming that as one of your own, now....
Regards,
Neil (I used to talk with myself, but we fell out in a big way - he was an opinionated son of a gun) Miller.
Just remember folks, every cloud has a silver lining - except for those eastern knock-off ones that are lined with lead and give you lead poisoning at the same time as soaking you half to death. This is technically a no win situation.
Indeed, what's on the back is of no consequence with this being upon the front! ;)
