How is application of the powder, on a webbed strop? Messy? I was wondering about that. Was thinking the crayon or paste liquid may be better?

I currently have the 2.5" leather and webbed strop from SRD, which I was thinking I could use the back side of the webbing.

Let me know, if this might not work out well for me.

Thanks! That explains how the powders are used.

That is how I do it, except make the X’s from edge to edge and let it dry as X’s with just a bit more Chrome Ox maybe 2 coats.

I lay out the X’s by measuring and with pencil lines, but that’s just me.

The strop in the foreground is pasted with an SRD stick, the other is with Kremer powder, both work equally well, on Polyester Canvas, sailcloth.

What I figured and so much for that.

Yea… probably good stuff but, like I said, once you put it on, you can never get it all off. So make sure of the purity.

Quality Chrome Oxide is the go to paste for razors, then you can go from there if you wish.

I don't think I am experienced enough to discern any difference in the shave quality yet. I wanted to see if the difference can be seen with magnification like that random deep scratch from cross contamination on a clean fine grained bevel.

I have read so much lately I can't remember from where but I thought I read the smallest CROX was labeled .5 but could have down to .3 in the mixture and .5 being the biggest particle size depending on quality.

I would think the next smaller size of .3 CROX would be advertised all over the place as the next latest and greatest for SR user seeking that ultimate shave.

I lightly pasted up a new TI paddle with the so-called .3 last night and am working the oil in a bit for a couple days before I give it a try. If I think I can see something I will try to post it.

Good Chrome Oxide will polish off some stria and not leave new stria, it is about 30K in grit equivalent.

If you want finer go to Nano Diamond, CBN, Cerium or Ferrous Oxides, depending on what you are trying to achieve.

Chrome Oxide will generally smooth an edge, though it can add some keenness, the substrate and pressure will affect the edge.

Always use lite pressure and let the Chrome do the work, less is more, you do not need much, in application and pressure.
