I leave mine in the bathroom, but the bathroom has an extractor fan, so it never gets too steamed up. I can't really imagine having it anywhere else because it's where I strop just prior to shaving.
This question comes up on a regular basis and why not? Good strops are expensive and the knowledge that helps them last is more than useful. A point I would share is today's strops are much better tools than vintage strops. Tanning processes, leather knowledge, maintenance/care has moved forward over the years and issues like moisture and environment are less of a practical concern.
Depending on one's age (I'm 59), most modern day strops will out live their owners. Realistically, among all the members (and guests) of our community (SRP), how many will shave with a straight razor long enough to wear out a quality piece of leather?
