Thanked: 0Strop hanging in the bathroom?
Hello SRP,
This is my first post so first some quick history; I've been reading the site for a little over a year and love it (hence why I joined.) I have been shaving off an on with a SR for a year now (I live in the North East so a beard is nice for the cold weather.)
Now my question. I have a 2 sided strop (linen and leather [horse hide.]) It's currently hanging in my bedroom; If i move it to the bathroom and hang it in there would it be okay to leave it in the bathroom permanently or would the steam from a shower affect the leather and linen on the strop?
Thank you in advance for the answers.

Welcome aboard,,,
My strops are about 8 feet from the shower,,,, the door is not closed when I shower, so its not a steam room. If it is going to get steamed all the time , then maybe some other location.

Thanked: 1184Or keep a towel over it. Not a used one, but clean and dry. Many just let them hang. I do.

Thanked: 4826So we are talking about just one strop in the bathroom right. Hmmm. I do see that as a problem, but horsehide and linen is a good start. You should probably have four so you can keep things in symmetry. I keep mine in the bathroom too. It has not been an issue for me. I'm not sure why Jerry wants to hide his though! I think carl keeps his every day strop in the bathroom And has for a number of years with no real issues other than aesthetic ones from water drops etc.

Thanked: 0Thank you everyone for your fast replies. I think I'll keep it in the bedroom for now. With the weather slowly starting to warm up where I live my SR will be seeing more use. Although I like Rezdog's idea of getting another one; I'll probably get a newer one and keep it in the bathroom.

I have kept two strops in the bath for a year and a half plus with no issue. Sometimes one will not see use for a month or two. I think you'll be fine.
I have no fan in the bath it can get humid.
On the other hand I keep my two nicer strops hanging in the closet."The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas." -Linus Pauling
